Oh what a difference...

New shoes, y'all!  I cannot tell you how wonderful it feels to run in new shoes.  Ran six hilly miles yesterday and my knees did not bug me very much at all.  It was awesome!

Here they are.  Mizuno Wave Inspire 6.  Just look at them!  Aren't they snazzy?  You can see my old shoe in the background.  I think it is crying as it knows it's time is up.

Miles, and miles, and KT tape too!

From the 8th through the 15th, I didn't run at all.  There was snow and school and other crap in my way.  Made up for that lack of running by running 19 miles in 3 days.  Dadgum!  Should have added a mile and gotten an even 20.  I'm just a silly goose.  Kept forgetting to charge the trusty Garmin so I wasn't keeping track.  Had I done that I soo would have added that extra mile!  I will break down the runs for you, because you are super excited about it.  Am I right??  Of course I am!  Okay.  Saturday I only did 4, but it was fun.  Met some of my favorite running buddies who I don't get to run with enough.  That evening I ran into one of them at the grocery store and she mentioned that a group was meeting Sunday morning for 10 miles.  Did  very well until the end.  My dadgum right knee started hurting!  Bad knee!  Monday, because it was MLK day and I had the day off, I ran 5.  That adds up to 19!  In 3 days!
Which brings me to KT tape.  I got the last box at the local sporting goods store.  Awesome stuff!  Bob helped me tape my left knee, where I've been having IT band issues and I taped up my right knee.  I think my left knee is doing better so I'm not sure if the tape is helping or not.  The right knee, however, is a different story.  Ran yesterday (3 miles, an easy run) and had no pain!  It was great.
Oh yeah!!  Got new running shoes!  They did not come in time for me to test them out yesterday.  Bummer.
I will, of course, report back after I've run in them.  They are super cool looking.  That's what matters, right?!
Alrighty.  I'm really hyper for some reason.  I could type and type and type and type...  but I won't.  I will use this energy to do some homework.  Priorities!!  I've got 'em.

I would like to mention my most fabulous children.  Julianna made All-Region band in December.  The concert was this past Saturday.  It is amazing how good they sounded!  The regular band concerts are good, but get all the great kids together and it is just awesome.  Yay!  In February, Maggie will get to travel with other choir members to try out for All-State.  She will be an alternate, but still!  My kids rock!

Well, dadgum...

It's been awhile, eh?  My half marathon was disappointing.  I didn't want to write about it.  Came in at 2:51 and change.  My knees started hurting, my feet started hurting.  I basically ran by myself, which I'm not used to.  My fault.  Started out way too fast for me.  Felt good, so I went with it.  Bad idea.  That decision bit me in the ass after the first 6 miles.  Oh well.  Finished.  Was depressed but got over it.  Signed up for half marathon number two on March 6th right here in Little Rock.  Hope to do a bit better.

A full marathon is also in my future.  A couple friends and I have decided to sign up for the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis in December.  That gives us quite awhile to train.  That's 26.2 miles, y'all.  Scary.  But I think I can do it.  Maybe I'll become addicted.  Haha!

Been running more than last winter, which is good.  Wearing an IT band strap for the knee that's acting up.  Other than that, it's going well.  Now I need to keep it up.  School starts this week, which complicates things.  I don't know how I can continue to run in the evenings and keep up with studying.  I think it's time for me to start running by myself.  Fire up the old iPod shuffle and hit the neighborhood roads.

I will try to update a bit more for all my readers.  Haha!  Lace up your shoes and get your asses out the door!
